what's the best airbrush acrylic paint brand?

Funny thing, ask each and every one of these guys (and guys like John Ficchi, Rick Cantu, Steve Riojas, Dan Jurgenson, Kenny, Tom B., all of whom are arguably some of the best painters in the business), and they will all tell you that they still learn something new with each piece they do. Painting like any other hobby is a learning process, and even the masters try new stuff all the time ... how do you think they got to where they are?

how about enamel paint on acrylic primer...will it work? in this situation it is vallejo grey primer and humbrol gloss black enamel.

you wont have any issues with enamel over acrylic unless you use to much thinner for the enamel and over spray. Will have to go slow with it.

I tried once to paint brush enamel over acrylic and my mistake was blending it and it pulled up the acrylic.

Rule of thumb is you need to use enamel primer for enamel paints. Unless its just a small area that you dont go overboard with, should be fine.

I really dont like to spray enamels, stuff is was to potent to use.

I've never used either brand specifically, but there's no reason that I know of that it shouldn't work. Under normal conditions, enamel paint shouldn't affect the acrylic primer.

The purpose of primers is to turn poor surfaces into a good surface for painting on ... that's it.

I refuse to use them at all ... fumes from spraying them, and the clean up afterward just isn't worth the aggravation, especially not with so many acrylic brands on the market that can give you near on the same results.

thanks for the fast response guys. in this case my plan is to use acrylic primer - enamel gloss black paint - alclad ii chrome...that is why i need to use enamel under alclad.

it is pretty wide smooth area where i'll paint, my concern is a reaction between acrylic primer and enamel paint. i'll try and see what happens thanks again jesse.

Jess is right.. We have happy accidents all the time.

It's learning process.... Using Jesse's new GK Paints are great.. They run smoother through the airbrush..
Require no thinning and do not clog.

I highly recommend anyone to just have fun with the
piece your working with and remember if you are not
happy with it, just strip and do it over again.

Life is stressful enough, never bring it to the workbench.

i do have another question for you guys. i am going to use alclad chrome, on which base coat should i use it to achive best chrome look. as i can see there are some favorites: tamiya gloss black, humbrol gloss black, testor mm gloss black. people do not recommend alclad black base coat.
