Florida Supercon

I was going to pass on the convention this year, but decided to go at the last minute because Pat Broderick, who is as nice a guy as he is a capable artist, was going to be there.
I've rwad so many bad stories about artists that I wanted to post a nice story. I brought my five year old girl to the convention, and the artists there treated her like a princess. She met Joe Jusko, Koi Pham, Tommy Castillo, Ariel Olivetti, and of course Pat Broderick, and each one made time to chat with her, sketch a princess for her, and make her feel like a million bucks. The other artists attending the convention likewise made her feel special. Castillo actually asked her to sit next to him as he drew a sketch for her(and one for me). She had a blast, and so did I. On the way out, she wanted to say good bye to the artists she met, and each one stopped what they were working on to give her a warm good bye, and then asked to see her sketch book with the princesses. It was a wonderful experiecne for us both!

Ari- Thanks for sharing! It made me smile as I read it. Sometimes it's easy to forget just how many good people there are in the World.

Congrats on catching Broderick. His work on Firestorm is still among my all-time favorites. I remember cutting his splash page from JLA #200 (Firestorm vs. Martian Manhunter) and putting it on my wall as kid. Did you get any art from him?

Bring her along. It's a great dad/daughter experience.
