I would give some to Charity- like $20 million. Take care of my Friends and Family with the Rest. Let them live way above their means.
Put $$ on the Side for my Son so when he grows up, he can buy a nice house and live mortgage free.
Also would make sure all you guys got a little something as well!

I've bought one lottery ticket my entire life: the day I was old enough to.
But.. you guys and some others convinced me to go pick me some Mega Millions numbers.
I feel so dirty.

First thing I would buy is: I would become debt free. I love cars, but would like to remain somewhat low key. Either the Mercedes SL550 Roadster or a Nissan GTR.

If you take a lump sum payment on $540,000,000, you'll clear (after taxes) about $220,000,000. Even if you were to put all of it into SAVINGS accounts earning 0.25%, your interest would be over $500,000 a year.
Heck, you could say to hell with investing, SPEND $500,000 a year, and the winnings will last 440 years.
Trust me, how to invest to keep the money coming in will be the last of your concerns.

We've got a whopping $21 million dollar jackpot here this weekend . The biggest I think we've ever had is $50 million . . . but $500 million . . . that's insane
Not sure what I'd do first if I won, but what I wouldn't do is tell anyone . . . I'd take care of family and friends (very discretely) of course but that's it.
A big chunk of cash would go to the RSPCA . . . partially allocated to the care of mistreated animals and the rest to go towards some hired thugs to beat the living sh!t out of people mistreating the animals.
Then I'd get myself a real nice pair of pants

Rich people (Upper-Upper Class) have a whole different set of problems than "everyone else", including financial ones. Winning the lottery would immediately introduce the winner to them.

The first thing I would do is pay off all, or as much as I could, of our debt(house, student loans, cc).
The second thing I would do is put aside an amount in a trust for my children.
After that, dunno......maybe find a different job that didn't require me to be away from my family so much.
We would also take a four or five week vacation to one of the places on our list destinations we want to hit, Australia, Spain or Italy.
