New Batman Commission - 99% done - need opinions

Hey Guys,

I've been working with an amazing artist, Ryan Bodenheim, to get a companion piece for my Superman Over Metropolis. He sent me a close to final JPEG, and I wanted to get everyone's opinion.

The last little part to the piece we've been going back and forth on, is whether or not Batman should have rope and a batarang in his hands, and whether or not a small Batwing should be up in the clouds.

Adding the Batwing to the clouds might be too much... with things being so busy. If anyone has any idea how this can be done, by all means voice your opinion. However, by adding the Batwing, it will explain the height of Batman.

What do you think?

Nothing more should be put in the sky, it will ruin the lovely sky that looks like it has been painstakingly created.

Don't worry about showing how high Batman is, any fan would assume that he has just leaped out of the Batwing or something.

If anything you could draw in a grappling gun in on his right hand.

Awesome commissions!

Great idea but I think it might make things a little too busy in that area.

theres an open spot next to the right side of his cape and you can draw in the hand glider in the distance and it wont take away from the scenery

great art

I'd do the rope an the batarang, wrapped up around his hand ready to go. Something simple. It looks really stunning.

Plus if anyone inquires, then you can just tell them he just jumped from the Batwing.

Those would be amazing next to each other! The only thing I would add would be to make Batman's costume darker just to show that its at night. Not a make or break thing at all just my 2 cents.

If this is a daylight sky scene, then why is there a moon in the background? If it's a night scene, then there may be too much detail in the buildings. But it feels like a daylight scene.

With Batman floating upwards, I don't know if there is a way to fix it without dramatically changing it. You could add the plane where the "moon" is and make batman look like he's jumping from it.

I would leave it the way it is. No, Batman can't fly, but so many of Batman/Superman drawings makes Batman look like he's swinging on a rope connected to the moon.

I'm loving all the comments. I just quickly tossed in a Bat Glider into the piece... I put it up high, so it looks like he's falling down from it. I don't know if it adds anything to the piece. I tried putting it to the right of his cape, in the open area, but it just seemed too low, based on where Batman was.

Honestly, I think I'm ok with just saying... he jumped from the Batwing... and it flew off .

The piece is currently inked, so rope wouldn't be hard to add, but a grappling gun might be tricky. Once again, don't know if the rope will add anything to the piece either.
