I returned it and am getting a replacement.
The end of that umbrella sure does seem to want to be a separate piece pretty badly.
The irony is that they went overboard trying to prevent damage to the rest of that body/umbrella. I was almost surprised the other end of the umbrella wasn't breaking from their protection attempt. The wrap-around they have around the umbrella and the left leg seemed so tight I was scared I was going to break something unwrapping it. Then I noticed the broken piece and didn't need to bother.

I got my replacement and I am wondering if some of these just weren't packaged correctly. This one had a piece of styrofoam under the umbrella handle and everything was secured into place similar to how the top of the umbrella was. I do not recall that from the first. Whatever material they had in that area I recall just slid right off. I had to unwrap some plastic wrap from around the right left and lower umbrella before I could slide that styrofoam out this time.
This worked out better - no damage.

No, it hasn't yet been in-stock. The first batch fulfilled preorders, but there weren't any extras for those who hadn't preordered. So it maintains its "preorder" status.
