From reading this thread, it sounds like I need to give this show another go. The pilot was somewhat of a yawner for me

Just watched all the episodes on Hulu the last few days. It is pretty much a sequel to TNG. I was surprised at how straight forward sci-fi it is with some jokes here and there. If you liked TNG, this is the show for you. He does show respect for the genre.

Shame to see Alara go. Never gave a reason outside of the show, apparently. I'm hoping we get more Lt. Tharl.

The first episode of season 2 was a bit meh with the whole pee thing, although I did laugh with the shuttle drive by

The big shifts in tone may throw people off. Some are comedic focused and some are story driven. I've really enjoyed episodes 3 & 4 of this season being more emotion and action feeling like Trek I love.

I really liked the way they went about episode 2...thought that was pretty funny. Definitely TNG on a trip of some sort. Part of the reason I like it so much.

The episodes vary so sometimes I think "that was okay" and other times it really scratches that TNG itch I've had for 15 years. The pilot was one of my least favorite episodes, even though I still enjoyed it.

I think I would like a model of the Orville to go with my NSEA protector.

Ep3 of this season was incredible. Very serious. Loved it.
