Christine - 7/10
Gotta admit, Christine has held up rather well. Subject matter isn’t terribly deep but I’m a sucker for Carpenter and this oozes his style. That and Keith Gordon’s performance really carry the film. Without them this could’ve played out extremely cheesy.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

halloween marathon movies #24-25
Ghosthouse - this was just awful. Started off with an interesting premise, then did nothing at all with it, very tough movie to get through 3/10
Midsommar - I really liked this one, it was very captivating from beginning to end, and had a really interesting and thought provoking story. No surprise considering its from the director who did Hereditary which I loved, I think hes going to be a director to look out for going forward, he does my favorite kind of horror, intelligent horror, and he does it well 9/10

Halloween Marathon continues with the last Amicus' Anthology Horror film made - 1975, From Beyond The Grave - 9/10.
It may be the best of the great Amicus Horror Anthology fims made (they only made 1 more movie after this, the Werewolf movie, The Beast Must Die) but boy did Amicus go out in style. From Beyond the Grave centers on an old antique shop run by Peter Cushing. He's visited by 4 customers throughout the movie & we see each buyer's story unfold; 3 of whom attempt to take advantage of the kindly shopkeeper (who really is the devil or a demon).
Just great stories from beginning to end, one of which, imo, is one of the best Witch tales ever told on film, starring the great Donald Pleasence & his real daughter, Angela. We also get a great "Jack the Ripper modernized tale, a killer elemental & mage/savior one & also a solid Ghost story rolled in.
No studio has delivered the Horror Anthology genre like Amicus. & FBTG is near perfect.

Still scary to me, mostly because I remember it scaring me as a kid watching it on HBO when I wasn't supposed to. Patricia Krige has always been creepy.

I freakin' love this movie. Plays great as a double feature with The Changeling.

I watched this for the third time over the weekend after seeing the theatrical and director's cuts at the cinema. I don't watch horror films that often, but this is one of the few I needed to own on disc.

definitely, Midsommar is a great horror movie for people who typically dont watch or enjoy traditional horror movies.
I wish they released the director's cut on bluray, from what I can tell its just the regular cut, i'd love to see the director's cut

I have it on DVD, although I've been seeing that the Amicus stuff is slowly being rolled out on Blue. I'm fine w/ my dvd copy. It's fine. Quicksilver, if you're new to the Amicus Horror Antholgy stuff, they're all quite good. Each movie centers around a central situation, & we see the folk's involved individual scare-stories unfold, finally tying together at the last minute. Here's a list, in order of release -
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors
Torture Garden
The House That Dripped Blood
Tales From The Crypt
Asylum
The Vault of Horror
From Beyond The Grave
I love them all with Beyond being my favorite.
