This is all vey confusing to me. Not sure what P1 means with "various other fees" either. I might give the customs office a call soon and ask them about it.

You mean in Germany? It doesn't matter where you buy (Asia, Africa, America) - all that matters is the total amount (incl. shipping). Anything above 150 EUR means sales tax plus custom duties.
It's a different story though if they routed your package to an EU interim storage and then send it on from there. Then you wouldn't have to pay any taxes.

You are forgetting that there is a trade agreement between the EU and Japan. Hence that economy shipping includes the taxes and duties.

I don't known the details of everything about the trade agreement. But that is the primary reason why I now order some pieces directly from P1.

I bet there's trade agreements with a lot of international countries. But those don't apply to private individuals I think?

Unless the agreement waivers red tape and taxes regarding import and export of goods under certain conditions.

I asked Prime 1 about the possibility of BAYONETTA statues:

Fastest economy shipping yet. Shipping notice from P1 on august 4 and delivered today on the 10th.

No extra invoices regarding the taxes etc. (Netherlands)
