All true.

But I expect a DCU WW will come with a higher price tag for the license- That's why i said while the material (silicone) costs would be less, by the time you factor in things like the cost of the license, the fact WW would probably have broader appeal, etc we are probably looking at a price that will be closer to this than...the $2100 for Mera, for instance.

Hey, I hope I'm proven wrong.

This Whitebeard has a limited audience and that's reflected in the 300 ES - which itself is likely driving the high price.

While a WW would be impacted by all the factors you mention, it's likely to be offset (to a degree) by a much larger ES.

They charged $2,200 for Mera, an unpopular character with a simple costume. For something as desirable as classic WW, I'm guessing $2,800-3k.

Would you still buy one at that price point? That's quite expensive for a single 1/3 character.

Normally something industrially produced can take advantage of economies of scale.
But that's more for automated production.

When you are talking hair punched and painted silicone, and pulling things from molds, it's all labor intensive. There's no getting around the laborious process of someone sitting there and punching hundreds of strands of hair.

If they are outsourcing production to the lowest bidder, yeah maybe we'll see that break.
I was under the impression they had a tighter rein on production as far as personally overseeing it.

But then again, there is always the JND "we're more special than the rest" tax. Pricing their product in excess of what others may charge for similar work is one reason they've been able to cultivate a mystique of higher quality- despite plenty of evidence they can be fairly slipshod at times (arriving with heads broken off, leaning, etc).

Again, I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

That's not correct. Automation carries a different cost calculation when compared to traditional human resource - but the principles of "economies of scale" apply to both automated and manual production.

The basic idea is to be able to amortize your production costs over the total production output sold. So assuming your production costs are based on a manually intensive production process...the cost will be baked into the "piece price"....therefore, the more pieces sold, the lower the individual piece price.

As you can see, the use of automated production processes doesn't come into play.

I'd be willing to pay that amount as long as JND delivers on an excellent WW classic statue with a Gal Gadot likeness.

The only time I had to put my foot down and say NO to a statue was the Prime 1 Final Fantasy VI Terra 1:6 statue - $14,000!!!

When the statue was first announced, I thought to myself I'd be willing to pay upwards of $5K since FF6 is my favorite game of all time. Little did I know, it'd be triple that.

He is indeed quite huge, there isn't an "exact" height as honestly how big he seems changes though there probably is an official height. This is about 47" tall though which is going to be bigger than your normal 1/3rd (though probably not big enough for whitebeard :P). Most figures/statues of him are not true size for the scale.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

14k for a 1:6 is crazy.
