Using his logic we should get rid of speed limits as speed limit signs don't stop speeders. LOL

How many mass shootings has New Zealand had since 1996? They are still armed to the teeth. Zero? How can that be? I mean the fact that Australia passed this gun law is why Australia hasn't right?
New Zealand has the same population demographics as Australia so it is apples to apples.
RE the "speed llimit" analogy, the act of speeding itself is dangerous, the act of owning a gun, is not in and of itself, dangerous. Also there is not a constitutional protection for speeders. To turn this around by your logic all speeders use cars so the answer is to remove cars from the population, not just speeders but everyone. Dare I say, even if it saves one life?
As to the suicide and homicide rates you will note he went to the "by firearms" comparison but the overall rates were basically unchanged. They were both very low to begin with, Australia isn't exactly south central, but let's go ahead and compare. In the 5 years immediately after the ban the overall suicide rate was higher in 3 of the 5 yrs and the overall homicide rate was higher in all 5 yrs.
Sure, the cut and edit interview by Daily Show is funny, but that's all it is.
