Great news. However, I truly hope Chris Carter gets help writing this storyarc as he hasn't written anything for film and TV in over 10 years. The second X-Files movie was disappointing.

Both David and Gillian have other TV show commitments. I think they agreed on six due to their current schedules. I am sure Chris Carter would like to do it (he doesn't seem to have anything else) but I wouldn't count on it working without David and Gillian in the lead roles.
