Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

That's where I got the synopsis of the scene from. It seems when the lost scene is mentioned folks automatically assume that the viewer is confusing it with the nazi crate catching on fire. I wish there was video online that could reveal the truth of the tale. I sincerely believe the scene exists, though, TNovak.

I do too. I know I remember it and there seems to be a pretty good number of people that also remember it. Too many to have confused it with the swastika burning IMO. Especially since we all remember both. It is funny that there doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement of a change anywhere on the web that I can find.

Seems it would have survived in a draft of the script, storyboards, the novel, pre-production art, I mean something to indicate that this was at some point planned.
Films are usually very well thought out especially a Spielberg million dollar movie with FX shots and all that.
This would have been an FX shot, there has to be something about it if so.

Blade Runner had some odd versions, and those are all well documented for instance.

Or is this some deep dark mistake that they did not want the impression that god hated the US Government?
So all possible evidence of the scene purged? I'm still pretty shaky on this and that memory can be quite flawed and influenced
by suggestion of others.

After the end credits?

Back then they didn't do that kind of thing like today.

Is it possible someone purposfully spliced in a clip of their own trying to be clever or whatever reason?

Trying to forget Crystal Skull, but was the box burned in that film causing confusion?

Spliced into the cinema version? Probably not.

It would kind of make sense. The two similar scenes depict that the Ark shouldn't be owned/associated with any one nation.

But then someone mentions that it could be misconstrued as it happening because God considered the Americans to be as bad/evil as the Nazis, and Robert's your mother's brother - one deleted scene.

That guy says after the end credits but I just remember it as the guy with the cart dropping it off and then cutting to it and it is burning the crate again like before. I don't recall it after the credits and at 16 I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have sat through the credits.
