Hero Worship Jam

Connecticut ComicConn in Bridgeport was this past weekend. It was great for getting artwork done. Saturday was the busiest of the three days, but not so bad that you couldn't get to any of artists you wanted to.

I was able to get six characters completed to start off this jam:

Billy Tucci - Scarlet Witch
Tom Raney - Ghost Rider
Neal Adams - Green Arrow
Lee Weeks - The Punisher
Mike McKone - Colossus
David Finch - Wonder Woman

Holy crap dude!!! That jam is as epic as the villains jam!

Do you have any artists in mind for specific characters?

I'd try to get George Perez or Ron Lim for Adam Warlock. Maybe Epting or Mcniven for Cap. Sale would do an awesome Hulk. Ottley for Invincible. Oh, and get Jason Metcalf to do someone. He does terrific work.

But dude, you've got Flash and Green Arrow, but no GL? What happened? :-(

I don't really have anyone specific in mind, as it really will depend on who's available at the shows I attend. I had a wish list when I was doing the villains jam and its a lot of changing on the fly based on who's available. Throw in that some artists won't do a jam piece, getting shut out on a commission list and even just timing. You can't get everyone at a show, so it's a lot of deciding what you want more. Is it worth waiting for just one particular artist that might need to hold it until they get around to it at a show versus being able to get a few other artists that are available immediately?

I'd love to get George Perez again, but it's not easy. He does a lot of headshot sketches, so this would really need to be a right place/right time type of thing.

Ron Lim was someone I wanted for the villains (Galactus or Thanos) and I would have been able to get him to do one, but it would have required mailing it. I'd trust Ron with it, but not the mailing service, so I just go with whoever is available at shows I attend.

Epting did the Red Skull for me, so if I can catch up with him again, I'd love to get him on Cap or the Winter Solider.

McNiven was at last year's NYCC, but didn't have the availability, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for this year.

Ottley is the obvious one for Invincible.

Everyone else is just a matter of luck and timing.

No GL on there is simple...when I made the list of the heroes I wanted, he wasn't in my top 32. Same with Iron Man, the FF and a few others. My tastes are very quirky.

Awesome looking jam! Can I ask what Matt Clark charged for the layout on that? I've got a couple pieces in mind and looking for the right fella to do the layouts.

That looks incredible! I would also like to know what Neal Adams cost. I see his prices on his stuff and I can't imagine ever getting anything from him. I guess if you catch him on the right day at the right time it could get down to a manageable price.
