Magnet Rust

I just received my DRS Colossus and noticed there were dark specks/spots on the arms and wrists.

Most of it I could wipe off or blow off with an air duster so it's less noticable but still there.

Upon further examining the statue I notice that the black spots possibly came from rusty magnets in the head/neck piece.

It was shipped from the east coast so maybe there's a humidity issue with how it was stored because it arrived sealed and brand new.

Have any of you guys had this issue? How do you clean the magnet?

I just gave mine a good look and didnt notice any of your paint issues. When I received him I did have rust on my magnets but most was easily wiped off with a damp tissue.

Hmm....I think I'm gonna check mine now. Haven't noticed this problem with my Wolverine magnetic head from Kotobukiya.

Many magnets are made of iron and when iron is exposed to the atmosphere (air) it will interact with oxygen and create iron oxide (rust) it should clean up rather easily.

You can use a small amount of white vinegar to wipe out the rust and try to scrub it off with a toothbrush with hard bristles or even a small piece of sandpaper. Just be careful in not damaging the paint around the magnets.
You can use baking soda dissolved with some water instead of the vinegar, but I do prefer the last one, IMO it is more gentle.
Also there is plenty products that claim to get rid of rust; check your local stores and supermarkets.
I think that the problem that you have with your statue is unique; It was probably kept in a high humidity and high temperature room. The no so clean looking paint is another result of this problem and shows that the statue was in contact with natural elements like water (humidity in the air) and heat (storage room without proper AC).
I am not familiar with a solution for the paint issues but I will research it and I will let you know.
