State of the gaming industry

I saw this over on neogaf and got a chuckle out of it. It represents the majority of 'AAA' titles that have been released lately and its only getting worse as time goes on.

Its a sad state that we are currently in (in terms of gaming)...

Only stops when consumers stop buying into the hype.

Problem is, is if the customer stops buying into the 'hype' as you put it, developers will have to supplement their games even more with these post-release gimmicks. Regardless if we buy/don't buy, this trend is here to stay for a good period of time as the industry evolves. When the average AAA title can now cost in the hundreds of millions, nickel and dining isn't going to end anytime soon.

ya its a mess now

every game is going towards iPad apps. free to play but perks if you purchase in game items to adv faster or further then playing for free. they make way more cash this way.

Its like now we pay the developers to beta test the game and then they patch it.

Problem is the consumers now are the kids and new generation that is used to it. They don't understand how back in the day you bought a finished game, they are used to buying a game and sinking in more cash to it for the perks.

So true, I remember the good old days of me and my trusty N64, buy a game and play the heck of it for years! I tend not to buy into all of this rubbish now days unless it is something I really want. BF4 Premium was the last DLC I purchased and while it isn't perfect, I've had my monies worth.
