In a static photo that might be the case, but it could have easily been tweaked to offer some prime viewing angles to accommodate a slightly more, let's say, practical pose.
SS was able to still come up with some good angles for it's Cap. This is one of my favorite statues - though directly head-on with this isn't how I best appreciate, or display, it.
I don't always feel a need to display these things so I can see the character's face looking at me. Sometimes 3/4, or in profile, offers more impact for the staute as a whole.
I get that others have a different focus. Would be interesting to know if these companies have sales data to that effect, that steers (or inhibits) the design of these things.
OTOH, XM might have just decided to not do it simply to further differentiate it from the earlier SS piece.
Also- just to keep in the spirit of over-thinking things- having the left arm in a shield-throwing orientation wouldn't have worked for me either because the entire body is in a forward lean that conveys follow through with a throw, whereas the arm would be rearing back preparing to throw.
Still like the "squash and stretch" shown in the foot on the ammo lid. Also the pouches on the belt, that show some sagging, and weight distribution as they interact with his left thigh. I love to see the little nuances of objects interacting with their environments.
