I dunno I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I enjoyed the first two as well. I think the hardcore fans can be overly critical of these movies. As if the original trilogy was some kind of masterpiece and nothing can live up to them. When I re watch the OGs I realize that they are better in my mind than they actually were.

The reviews are not that great which usually means I'll enjoy the movie so I'm OK with that. I never liked the first 3 at all. I was always so bored with them. I didn't enjoy Star Wars until Darth Maul showed up.

Star Wars is 1st and foremost about life lessons fables.
Abrams didn't have any in The Force Awakens and somehow I doubt he will have any for this one.

Star Wars is NOT just a series of neat convoluted mysteries and plot twists.

(Not that it means anything as the first 2 are above 90%, but still..)
It must be really bad if even the critics are panning it.

Or really good if you tend to disagree with movie critics.

Haven't seen it of course and trust me I know nothing but that sentiment for most people implies one very thing: Rey's parent(s).

People took The Last Jedi too much at face value. No matter what I doubt TLJ is truly ignored or it even ever departed much from the original skeleton of an arc for these movies. Remember the scene of 2 female hands handing over Luke's/Anakin's lightsaber in TFA trailer that was never in the movie? It was Abrams that decided to leave that out and leave it as Maz says "a story for another time".

Never ever watch these movies without "a certain point of view" firmly in tow and remember a good magician always uses misdirection. For all it's faults TLJ is a love letter to Star Wars and the heart of this trilogy.

I hated the last two films (and suddenly have a MUCH better appreciation for Lucas' commitment and desire to world build, if not quite his execution). It's not because the OT or PT are infallible, it's because there was 25 years of expanded universe, much of it pretty damn good (because it was written or developed by fans of the franchise), but unceremoniously thrown aside so Disney could do whatever they wanted. And as mentioned, Disney's "whatever they wanted" was "whatever the director feels like doing, regardless of how it relates to ANYTHING else that's been done in the past, even the previous film."

Disney made this a cash grab, pure and simple. In doing so, they alienated a large part of the fanbase. That fanbase not only watches the movies, but the tv shows, reads the novels, reads the comics, collects the merchandise, etc.... I would bet all of those sectors are down in revenue. They miscalculated on this, and it'll kill the franchise (or at least, relegate it to minor league status) eventually.
