Wow. I bet what would help him through that is if someone gave him a free $50,000
Oh wait - that's already happened . . .
But nice to see him take responsibility and blame those who gave him money as the reason why he can't complete his project

As a depression-battling dude with PTSD, I gotta say, I have a hard time processing the level of stress that comes with seeing the disingenuous, bullying messages coming from the small, extremely vocal minority in the comments here, so it's hard for me to deal with everything going on with me medically, psychologically, and professionally, AND keep track of the latest bizarre accusations below, brought on with renewed vigor whenever I update. That kinda stress is paralyzing and leaves me in my head trying to figure out responses for days. Conversely, I thrive on good stress. I've been working 60-80 hours a week at the shop, helping my family through a series of unfortunate events, and getting 4-6 hours of sleep a night, so all my projects are running long, including this most important one. I've recently convinced the shop's owners to hire my two top candidates, so I'll be able to cut back on my time at the shop by half in the coming weeks. Between the new hires and the help of my intern, productivity is getting back on track. I've also been taking a lot of quick-deadline drawing gigs to keep the bills paid, which isn't easy, but again, it's good stress."
I've gotten two of my three pieces so far, with the third piece in his possession ready to ship out.

Is he a vet? What's the PTSD from?

As far as I can tell from the comments its from his backers bullying him to refund their money or provide the product (or even an update)
Note I have no horse in this race but feel the whole situation does a total disservice to every artist as who reading this can feel comfortable joining a kickstarter

Probably the abuse he experienced as a child. That's what the kickstarter comic is supposed to be about.

Interesting. I read his comment as PTSD being new and caused by the kickstarter. Yours makes more sense.
Regardless of the veracity of anything he says -- there would simply be no issue if once a month he posted an update and responded to people. He has their money so he owes them that -- and illness or not his other internet activities prove he is capable of making such a post

The whole statement is passive aggressive. Bottom line: It's Dean's fault his project is late, and it's his fault the commissons are late, and it's his fault people are upset with him not responding to them, because he's not responding. That's it. At a certain point, you have to take responsibility. If you can't handle that, don't start a kickstarter, don't start commission drives. He's gotten so much money (documented! over $48,000! not to mention commission drive funds) and he has not met the responsiblities that those funds went along with. End of story.
Also he's got an intern? Seriously?

Seems He's now having kickstarter pull any negative comments -- yet he can post negative comments about some of his backers
Guy is a total class act
