I just got my bust in. It's a nice piece and has awesome display presence.
Pros and cons:
Pros: Mixed media is really well done. I like the three different fabrics used to create the different layers of the cloak. Also, the thickness of the outer cloak allows you to shape it somewhat. I'm really happy with the silhouette that I created with it.
I think the portrait is really well done. The menacing expression is worlds better than the previous Sideshow bust.
Cons: Detail to the sculpt could be better. When I compare this portrait to my Vader life size bust(Anakin portrait), it's a bit anemic when you look at the skin pores and wrinkles.
Isn't it time that Sideshow caught up with the other companies and do glass or acrylic eyes already? These they are are okay, but they could be so much better.
Would I recommend this piece? Absolutely! It's a fantastic portrayal of Darth Maul and has massive display presence.
