It’s sculpted well but that trilogy’s merch doesn’t sell very well. Surprised you see items still being made.

I've got a question for any who have received "AP" statues in the past. I recently received this mini bust through an order off a third party website (not Gentle Giant direct) and the item I received had a Star Wars Gentle Giant silver sticker across the lid of the outer box with "AP" written on it in black pen/marker. Inside the box the authenticity card also had "AP" written on it with the total edition size. On the bottom of the statue it also had "AP" written on it instead of an edition number.
My question is, with Gentle Giant do they make more than one Artist Proof for their mini busts? If so can I assume this is genuine? The third party seller is an authorized dealer for Gentle Giant.
It seems odd I would get one ordering from a third party seller (and not directly from GG). Also there appears to be some paint slop on both portraits on the neck area. Considering Artist Proofs are what the manufacturers are supposed to go by shouldn't they be pristine paint work? Or is Gentle Giant just sloppy these days, haha.
Kind of surprised with an AP considering I've never had an AP before. Also surprised because I got this on discount with an added store credit which brought it in super cheap.

I don't think that "AP" really means that anymore.
They can stick this on any extra units that they may have that are outside of the "limited edition" amount.
So if for example the statue is limited to say 500, they may produce 20 extra units in case of damages/defects, but if they then find that they aren't needed for replacements then they'll just stick "AP" on the bottom instead - so you'd have 500 numbered statues out there, and 20 "AP" units floating about as well.

AP is Artist Proof. Usually, those go to the artist, but sometimes the inventory gets mixed up, and the artist gets regular numbered editions. It happens occasionally. We don't produce extra just for damages.
