Try thinking of it this way...
Marvel (parent) didn't approve of their daughter (ff) marrying her bf (fox) but they figured it was time for (ff) to get out of the house and make a living.
Time passes and the parents (marvel) inherit money from Uncle Mickey (Disney). Life is good. They now can afford the best for the daughter (ff).
Then they take a look at the son-in-law (fox) and realize he hasn't done anything to elevate or make something of himself (fox) for their daughter (ff).
So now, the parents (marvel) decide it's time their daughter (ff) come back home and divorce this loser (fox) where the parents (marvel) can arrange their daughter (ff) with a respectable family cousin named Captain Steve Rogers (marvel studios).
Then they can both make babies (sequels) and live happily ever after (Disney swimming in pool of cash).
The End (consumer pocket book)
