My man dhjadav123 is back and putting in obscure Batman choices! He got a relative "steal" for Batman the Merciless at $8,101 and apparently also Black Mask for $6,100.

Part of this is Albert Moy and Jim saw there was interest and agreed to hike prices . The 9 x 12” all but prices out any low end collector . It’s really hit and miss on what you get . I feel like two things happen one people continue to pay and some will or he’s getting out of commissions altogether . He doesn’t do that many during cons anyways . Not all spots sell out and some pieces are not spectacular . At the end of the day it’s a Jim Lee.
Published pages from his more notable runs on Batman or Xmen is so far out of reach for something that would interest me . I’m a huge Marvel fan so it’s slim pickings because he’s been away from those characters for so long.
Imagine what the auction prices would be for a Marvel series like this eBay auction he did . Prices on DC pieces would look like bargains . I don’t buy art as investment anyways . I learned very early on selling art is hardest of three hobbies I have ( comics & statues ). I’m lucky if I can get half of what I paid so I went it with intention to enjoy them on my wall.

any word on what Jim's next drawing will be and what character? Only 3 pieces are in the auction currently.

I’m sensing another dhjdadav123 win and pick coming up. Maybe he runs the table and the rest of this series is just increasingly obscure renditions of Batman.

I would have no idea that was Jim Lee if his name wasn't on it.

I would agree. However, it seems people are still willing to pay in the 10k range for pieces which are virtually unrecognizable of Jim Lee's work so what do we know?

I guess on flip side it’s very rare to get coloured art from Jim. Can’t recall many examples he’s done pen , inks and colour himself . I agree it’s tough to know it’s him .

Wonder Woman and Hush were clearly Jim. These obscure versions of Batman, I agree with the masses, are impossible to tell they are Lee.
It’s probably bc Lee himself doesn’t really know the version that well and is just kinda winging it.
What other random versions of Batman are left to pick? And how in the hell has there not been a Hush Catwoman?!

Or any Catwoman or Black Canary or Batgirl (then again, if I had the money to win some of these auctions I guess these characters would have been done)
