Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was wondering if anybody actually received one? I know they've shipped and I've seen people say that they had it on preorder, but nobody has said a word since. I was curious of their impressions - positive and negative.

There is a video overview on Youtube from somebody who bought one, but no real impressions. I was curious as to the sound quality and any thoughts an owner had on it.

are you talking about the Roy edition or just these in general like the original Rick Hunter one? I have the first run of the Rick Hunter one.

VF-1J 1/12 scale in hand. Kidslogic exclusive edition that comes with Rick (Hikaru).

Overall impressions is that I cannot recommend this.

Original prototype for the VF-1J had raised rivets. The rivets are now going. Either the factory screwed up and used the wrong mold. Or, my guess, due to low order numbers, Kidslogic decided to use the same mold for for both the VF-1J and the VF-1S. The body of the fuselage is resin. Overall paint application is OK but the fuselage paint just looks flat and boring even with the weathering.

The base is hollow, coffin-shaped injected molded plastic. As you can see in the photo, there is a sticker over an unused battery compartment. So it looks like Kidslogic changed the engineering on the power source during development. The power is via a USB type a male connector. It would have been nicer if the power connection was a female USB so a separate, longer cable can be used. The base connects using two large strong magnets. The top of the base is hinged to help balance, but the base should have been polystone to provide more weigh in the base. There is no power switch and the lights come on in a neat boot up sequence as soon as power is applied. The base is decorated by paper stickers which look cheap.

The light up features are probably the nicest part of this statue/display. A couple of lights pulse including the "display screen."

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

The attached USB is really poor design.
