Using that logic Spider-Man 3 would be the best of the franchise then.
Not sure I agree box office shows "which movies are best" or even "how many people agree that a movie is good." All I think it shows is how popular a film is and how many people are willing to pay to go out and see it. That popularity more times than not is built upon the success of it's predecessors and thats why many sequels outperform the original.
Totally agree critics opinions are nothing to go by either. More times than not they set expectations and keep viewers from forming their own unbiased opinion.

Going by critics opinions makes more sense than going by ticket sales
ones an opinion
ones a sale
pretty sure 90% of the people that saw spidey 3 didn't love it

Rottentomatoes has 54% liked it.

If you are basing your opinion on his physical appearance then I think that's short sighted.
as a thug for hire working for an Eastern Bloc country. He volunteered to participate in an experiment that bonded a super strong polymer to his skin, thus augmenting his strength and speed. And I think they could take to the point the the experiment "expanded" his physique (similar to what they did with Captain America). I remain open minded as so far the latest Marvel movies have been top notch IMO.

Appreciate your opinion of Paul Giamatti as an actor. I've got no problem with his acting chops. He's a fine actor. Casting him as the Rhino however is a lame brain idea, IMO. His voice would sound lame for the part of the Rhino IMO too. I don't think I'm being short sighted in this, but if you do, then I know my thoughts won't change your mind. I just think that trying to cast someone who is physically way out of type for a character is stupid. I didn't like Michael Keaton as Batman. He's a shrimp and Batman isn't. Same thing applies to the Rhino, only more so.

I can't say a sequel is interesting to me personally. ASM was dull, uninspired and redundant IMO. People love Spiderman though, so I think this franchise has a long future in film.

I could care less who liked the movie. Just pointing out that $751 million isn't a failure and that it did make more money than one of Raimi's offerings.

Totally am on board w/ the idea of Paul Giamatti playing The Rhino. He's a terrific actor and terrific actors only help with super hero movies, imo. He was/is completely watchable & appreciated in everything I've sen him in from John Adam to Sideways to Hangover II. He'll bulk up, look good in the suit, ram things and steal the movie with his performance if he gets it. Yu need god actors to pull off these costumed roles.

But better than the 90% you were sure of. Cant go by the purists on this forum as to whether a superhero movie is good or not. Our standards are much higher than the majority.
