Good point Sam, and there's certainly a lot of grey area over who is\isn't "A List" "B List" "Superstar" etc, but you're right, the names we are talking about here, are a small group that are probably better described as Superstar, or "above A list" artists, no doubt.

Then there is the Legend Bracket. Adams, Kubert, Perez, Byrne etc.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is an "A" list artists ? Do Alex Ross, Dell'otto (for examples) are part of an "A" list ? because i believe they charge way more than 1K.

too pricey for me for a commission. For a published piece, like a cover, I have spent that much already.

If they can get it, kudos to them... However, I sincerely believe people who buy art in the 1k range generally consider potential resale too. Unless the at-home commissions are simply to die-for, 1k is oodles of cash so I'd likely say toodles to that. Besides, you can get really nice published work by these guys for 1k.

I agree, if published work is available, I'd prefer that over a commission with these prices. But what happens when the artist barely ever draws your favorite character?
