Pretty sure you missed the point there.

I think I won't buy statues straight away in the future but will wait until the price drops.
There are many statues in the shops that are not sold. e.g.
Prime 1 Batman Arkham City Statue 1/3 Harley Quinn Deluxe Bonus Version:
First prize: €1,999.00 -> new price €1,227.60. About 36% less

Sideshow Psylocke: First price: €869.00 -> new price €661.50. About 24% less
and so forth ...
There are now pages for special offers.

It's almost impossible to save more and as long as new statues are offered at reduced prices... who else will buy them on the secondary market?

It's a different answer for everyone.

I enjoy it quite a bit, but I killed the FOMO mentality a long time ago because there's always something better on the horizon.

I also don't expect these things to retain their value, especially with oversaturation of the same damn IP and 3D printing (as others have mentioned). I see these ridiculous listings where sellers think they're going to command top-dollar/ebay prices for their collection.

Ain't happening.

This is why I destroy most of the art boxes/packaging when I buy/display something. It's just a hassle to move this stuff on the secondary market when you factor shipping and the fact you'll lose 20% or more off retail.

You see the same thing with art and the oversaturated print market. Even vintage art is hit/or miss when collecting.

I swear, every Bottleneck release has multiple variants, then there's the lenticular version, the acrylic version and then followed by the limited AP release a few months later.

I serious doubt I'd get top dollar for my animation / movie poster /print collection and I've been collecting those for years and have some pretty hard-to-find-pieces.

Is collecting worth it?

...Absolutely! As long as I buy only the statues that impress me. The statues of characters that I love. And most of all ...as long as I deem the statue worth the cost. I've gotten very picky with the pieces I buy.

Fair point. I just bought my first AF15. I doubt I will ever buy a more expensive book unless I trade up in grade.

Just a 1.0. Spending that much is crazy enough for me, but I honestly never thought I?d get one. It just seemed like the perfect time to get it. It was through a live sale on my bday.
