It's a different answer for everyone.
I enjoy it quite a bit, but I killed the FOMO mentality a long time ago because there's always something better on the horizon.
I also don't expect these things to retain their value, especially with oversaturation of the same damn IP and 3D printing (as others have mentioned). I see these ridiculous listings where sellers think they're going to command top-dollar/ebay prices for their collection.
Ain't happening.
This is why I destroy most of the art boxes/packaging when I buy/display something. It's just a hassle to move this stuff on the secondary market when you factor shipping and the fact you'll lose 20% or more off retail.
You see the same thing with art and the oversaturated print market. Even vintage art is hit/or miss when collecting.
I swear, every Bottleneck release has multiple variants, then there's the lenticular version, the acrylic version and then followed by the limited AP release a few months later.
I serious doubt I'd get top dollar for my animation / movie poster /print collection and I've been collecting those for years and have some pretty hard-to-find-pieces.
