New Tolkien movies on the way

I was hoping they would do something new.
New story, new actors. With heroes and losers and lots of great fights.

Jackson's writing and decision-making took a hit after The Hobbit trilogy.

Serkis is not an accomplished director.

Gollum is a fairly uninteresting plot device. He is one of the least intriguing elements in all of LOTR to me.

Aragorn had Gollum for questioning as well as Gandalf. He was also in Mordor being tortured for a while. Again, not enough detail is given to make a movie of it. How about telling the story of Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin with Tom Bombadil?

There wasn?t a book outlining Sm?agol?s travels after killing Deagol and taking the ring from him.
