Godzilla Minus One - 9/10
As a fan of the character this is the new standard for me alongside the very best entries in the long running series. Seeing post war Japan and they rebuild from ruins get wrecked by a truly intimidating Godzilla is amazing to see, and on such a small budget!
Highly recommend if you love Kaiju films.

A Christmas Carol (Scrooge in UK) - Alastair Sim: 8/10
IMO the best of the Christmas Carol/Scrooge movies. The Bill Murray Scrooged film took some elements of this one. The main character's wife/girlfriend working in a homeless shelter instead of being happily married with children as in the book. Alastair Sim was the first choice for Scrooge and a perfect choice he was. I haven't seen this movie in decades and I had forgotten the obvious horror element in it where Scrooge gets home and sees Marley's face on the door knocker then proceeds to walk into his dimly lit home that resembles a haunted house. The shadows on the walls and floor combined with the music in that scene would have scared quite a few people back in 1951 I bet. From here on out this will be added to my Christmas movie watch list for December.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - 7/10
I went in with very low expectations and came out of it fairly entertained. Better than Crystal Skull IMO, so that's a definite plus!

If I include non-Christmas Christmas movies like In Bruges, Batman Returns, Stalag 17, etc. then I can find a film for each day. The one I haven't seen yet that I'm looking forward to watching the most is Blast of Silence. A Christmas noir set in New York City? Even if it's bad, it's good, as far as I'm concerned.

Carnal Knowledge (1971) - Chronicling the lifelong sexual development of two men who meet and become friends in college.
The poster above featuring only the names of the director, screenwriter and cast is all that needs to be said, really. I know the movie is supposed to be a critical take on the male psyche, but it was still tiresome seeing the female characters being mistreated the way they were from start to finish. 6.5/10

all you guys watching godzilla, you good with subtitles? i hate to be the ignorant american who expects everything to be handed to me in an easy to digest package but i have a hard time with them. maybe i take too long to read but i feel like i miss half of what is happening because my eyes are at the bottom of the screen - is there a trick here?

These are easy... slow, not complex.

I'm a big fan of asian film and anime, but I haven't watched Godzilla yet. In general though, I'd say the more you watch subtitles, the easier it becomes. Your eyes learn to dart faster, and/or use your peripheral more so you're not 'missing' things.
I'm not a 100% subtitle elitist, but the dubs are usually so bad. Just watched PLUTO on Netflix dubbed, and it is great.

I haven't seen this one in a while, that's why I gave it a higher score than I normally would. Will is funny but I can only take him in small doses. Watching this movie every couple of years or so is fine. Hard to believe it's 20 years old now.
