Heheh..yeah, I've always hated that. I'll do a Kirby search and end up with one or two actual Kirby pieces and 20 prints, stats, books and other junk. Not to mention the "After Kirby" stuff...Man, do I hate the "after Kirby" stuff.

In all honesty, don't you click on one of these "other" autions once in a while? I hate to admit it, but I have... lol.
However, you're absolutely right. It's a total pain to have to sift through 200 or so auctions in the splash page section only to discover maybe four or five genuine splash pages.

I agree 100%. Way too much junk listed as original art. Their should definitely be a seperate category for amateur stuff.

It is tiresome when I am at work, but let's not call it crap. How about artistically challenged pieces?
I think the excess can play to you radvantage though as good pieces will get overlooked and sometimes can be snagged for a bargain.
And separate categories would not work since the seller gets to pick where he/she wants to list an item. They would just continue to list everything with the "good" pieces.

In their defense, eBay did originally try to use:
Collectibles > Comics > Original Comic Art > Good Stuff and
Collectibles > Comics > Original Comic Art > Crap
But for some reason, people weren't using both of the categories.

The above is a link to an actual piece of David Finch art. Got to love the description though.

The cover was not published by marvel because it was not done in time but was later published in David's first sketch book. Which makes it more original.

Have to get this...it's more original.

You think that's good? Check out this one!
I LOVE that he's calling it original art. He's got one for Dave Johnson too. Even still, they're better than most of those crap drawings of breasts with the occasional moaning face thrown in.

You know what, though? It is kind of unique and cool in its own little way. And he's kinda right, that it would look cool framed with some art.

I can't disagree with that, I was just pointing out that it's not really art. It's just a signature. The problem is when people buy it on ebay it just opens the floodgates for all kinds of crap to show up. I dunno about you, but I'd go see Tim at a con and ask him to do that if I planned on framing a sketch of his. I'm sure he's be more than happy to. Plus then you also KNOW that the artist actually did it.
It's the same principle only worse with all the terrible art. One person buys a sketch either because 1) it's a fluke that turned out pretty decent/good OR 2) they buyer's taste sucks, then the artist decides to post 50 crappy sketches up because the one sold. Seperate sections really need to be made and eBay needs to shut down the auctions if they're posted in the wrong section and reported.
