Resale value of Prime1 statues

Hello,

Forgive me if this is in someway a settled topic, but I have been unable to find an old thread about it.

I am interested in getting my first Prime1 and wanted to know what the resale value is like for these figures. I have been mainly in the 1/7 and 1/8 market where the figures generally tend to retain value in the lines I collect. But these are an entirely different beast in terms of scale and quality, and price! So want to know what I am getting myself into before diving in.

Any comments from your own experience is much appreciated

Had 2 Batmans got about what I paid.
Made a lot on SS statue EX
Their stuff is not cheap so I would think many wont, not that don't make great sttaue though.

10-12 years ago it was easy with SSC statues to get what you paid, but that was with way cheaper shipping, PFS that you could get on sale for $200.00, less statues around.

Today you have to pay so much for a statue and P1 statues are a lot more than most, shipping a lot more, most people just wont pay much for resell, because so many statues that they want and many don't have the money anymore.

so I think many P1 statues and most companies statues you wont get what you paid. Today with those Batmans I would think I wouldn't get as much as I did then, so wouldn't have gotten what I paid.

It is unfortunate there isn’t any kind of a price guide for statues the way there is the Overstreet comic book guide
I just think a lot of it depends on what character is hot, addition size most importantly what somebody would be willing to pay.

That is very sound advice. When I first started buying statues it was strictly Bowens and I felt that I had to have all the avengers or all the X-Men to complete the lineup even though some of those characters I didn’t particularly care for. Those are the characters I did end up selling and I thought “why did I buy them? I don’t really care for that character a whole lot to spend a few hundred dollars on”.

Yep. This is art and based on emotion so the "value" is entirely subjective. It is much like comic books trying to figure out what will be desirable in ten to twenty years.

Treat statue buying like beer buying - buy it because you like it, can afford it, and will enjoy it whilst you have it, and then consider that money gone!

If you decide to sell down the line then anything that you get for it at that time should be treated as bonus cash in your pocket.

Like most things we buy new, expect a 10% to 25% loss when selling as used. Plus shipping is really expensive for 1/3s.
