It's carved in - the painter then just dumps in gold paint and then wipes off the surface. The remaining gold paint is left in the grooves. Simple!

Oh ok so they put the white and it let dry first then then gold and wipe it off while it's still wet? I think I got it now but I figured even while wet it would leave residue on the white.

Unbeliveable even for a prototype.

If they can do this for production pieces then how come every statue from every company doesn't come perfect?
