Wow, I remember, maybe 10 years back, walking into a local No. VA con & Frank Cho was a guest. He was just sitting at a signing table w/ no one around for a long while. I was able to talk to him & buy a bunch of his small-press books & just hang out. No one else was walking up so he drew some great sketches in my books. Even before that, Cho was signing at a LCS I used to go to, & it happened to be on the very last day his Liberty Meadows was being published as a daily strip in the Wash. Post. It was a Sunday so the day's strip was in color & large. I had him sign & date the strip w/ coincided with the publ. date printed at the bottom. Once again, very few people there.
Now, he's rightly huge as an artist & still one of my faves. I would pay to have lunch with him now. Cool to see him doing stuff like this & glad he has the huge fanbase he does.
