A good example of a natural floating effect is XM’s Superman.

I disagree, but it's looking like I'm in the minority who likes this piece. haha

I think they nailed the pose for Sidious here. His posture should be the complete opposite of Superman. He shouldn't have a heroic pose. He should make you feel uncomfortable. His posture should be unnerving and unnatural, kind of the way Nosferatu gives you the heebie geebies when you look at him.

A physically feeble man "shouldn't" levitate with his chest puffed out. His kyphotic spine is going to limit his shoulder range. His legs would be more adducted as he wouldn't have the physical strength to maintain them in any other way.

Physically, he reminds me of a creepy witch, which I think is what the statue conveys.

I actually agree with everything you said. I was only using Superman as an example of a floating pose that looked natural and feet that didn’t look awkward. I wouldn’t want a heroic pose or puffed out chest on a Sidious piece either. My main issue is with his backwards lean and the way it ties in with that base. It doesn’t look like he’s really floating to me as much as he’s being propped up by a giant hand. Had he been more vertical/upright I think I’d buy the levitation look.

Sidious pose looks like Yoda is force lifting him and keeping him off balance and he's trying to strike out with lighting...

I'm with those who don't like the look...

Okay. I see what you're saying.

I think you're on to something. We know Mustafar is strong with the Dark Side of the Force. He could be at its equivalent of Yellowstone. Perhaps he's hovering over a Force Gyser, being pushed upwards by the planet's version of Old Faithful?

His posture is defensive. I’d prefer a more aggressive pose.

This guy! If he had the same loafers on, they definitely be touching!

Even his aren't touching. His relaxed feet give the impression that he is floating. Sidious however, looks like he lept off the ground or (ironically) has launched with a burst of speed much like Superman might.

That's a good point. Hopefully Ventress picks up this guy's slack.
