Beginner question(s)

Hi there!

I've been doing zbrush for a while now and I'm just getting into sculpting and 3d printing...I'm getting ready to get my first 3d printer so I guess here is my first beginner question that I hope you can help me with

I've seen few zbrush/3dprint videos and tutorials that always cut the sculpt into smaller parts and then add keys to it...why is that necessary? is it because:
  1. Printer print volume size? what if you have a printer that can print large enough objects?
  2. Is it to make the mold/cast/and paint process easier?
  3. Is it easier to paint smaller cut objects than one large sculpt or vice versa?
  4. Any other issues that large print volumes could cause?

I think this will also help me decide on which printer print volume I should go with

Thanks in advance!
