If you are having them built I would ask for adjustable shelves personally that way you can adjust as your collection grows.

Good luck - can't wait to see what you come up with!

Get good quality acrylic and it won't scratch so easily

I'm pretty sure glass is more expensive.

Lexan is pretty expensive. the thicker it is the more it cost. but lexan wont shatter or break. this was years ago, i went to a local plastic company in Portland. had them build a custom lexan box with 3/8 lexan, it had a mirrored back and a polished black base. this was for a Cinemaquette T800. it cost $260. just depends on the glass too. just went to a local glass company in town. better the glass, more it cost. about 6 months ago i saw one of the best cabinets for statues on craigslist. guy had 4 for sale for $125 a piece. they were about 25D X 48W X 72H. it had a mirrored backing with 1/2 glass adjustable shelving. 3/8 glass on both sides and top with a 3/8 glass locking door. the frame was either steel or brushed aluminum. and even had lighting at the top.

On the ones in my TV room I put glass on 2 sides.. my ceilings are 9' high..
So the cabinet is 5 foot wide?

Be careful building floor to ceiling as they need to be tipped into room and up . If they are exact same size not sure how they go in . The picture shows built in if I’m not mistaken so slightly diff construction than mobile units .

Are you building displays on the floor? My nice shelves start about a foot off the ground which provides nice viewing for everything. My detolfs sit on the floor and the bottom shelf is tough to see so I plan to build a base to set them on. Something else to consider. Another nice feature of my nice glass shelves is that they have the adjustable glass shelves and I have adjusted many times do accommodate my incoming statues and various displays. Adjustable = flexibility.

Yeah they're going to be on the floor. I'm going to make the first shelf like 30 inches from the ground so the bottom shelf will be visible.
