Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) has now signed up to direct the live-action adaptation of the Blizzard game World of Warcraft, which will be produced by Legendary Pictures.

Could be cool I guess. Although I think the best thing Blizzard could do is to have their own artistic and computer graphic team develop the film in CG. Their video game cut scenes are unbelievably beautiful.

Yeah hopefully even for live-action they will bring in designers from the gaming studio.

Yeah people weren't expecting him to be working in this genre. He is a hardcore gamer and for the last 3 years or so on Twitter, he has expressed keen interest to see a WoW movie done right. Everyone was expecting Raimi to take on the project as originally planed.
Well when Raimi was first on-board for Spidey, many then were also skeptical and surprised by the choice of director. Guess directors indeed have to prove themselves when their break away from their traditional area of expertise.

I just dont see there being much of a story to be told
maybe a cool visual experience
Even the games the cinematics are breathtaking but the story is just there.
