Tweeterhead Superman Statue

I saw on Tweeterhead's site that they have extra Superman statues for sale. One thing I noticed is that the price was reduced by at least $50 to $60 dollars and it says in the description that it is reduced due to the fact that there is no art box. Now here is my question - does having an art box increase the cost of the statue that much? I know that this is extra inventory that Chad has from the Superman re-do and some people probably ended up cancelling but I would glad sacrifice an art box if it would reduce the cost of the statue by that much.

I wouldn’t be surprised. They tend to make about 500? Got the time for someone to design it. Print it, etc. wonder how many times it has to go through the review process before it’s approved. I think the smaller quantities are what drives the cost up.

I never look at my Art Box again once I take the statue out, it just goes back in the brown shipper and into my garage... I'm all for ditching the Art Boxes if it brings the price down...

They could also be trying to compensate for the loss in resale value...$50 to produce an art box seems pretty high, but I know nothing about it. If that's what we're paying for them then yeah, I wouldn't mind getting rid of them.

I say even if the loss of the art box would reduce the statue by $20 or $25 it would be worth it. Yes the art boxes are nice but do they really matter? If you could just store the shipper box with the styrofoam in it would be just as good. Plus the fact that you would need to keep the shipper box would be good since alot of people do discard the shipping boxes and just keep the art box. (I have been keeping the shipping boxes but I have used a shipping box for one statue to ship another statue in when I would sell one on Ebay)

funds are a little tight but what Chad is selling the statue for now might make me try to do a little budget adjusting.

While I'd rather have a pretty box than not, I don't care $50 worth. Like most everybody else, the box goes back into the shipper box and that goes into the basement or attic where I see it and ask myself "Why do I have so much stuff?"
