"Tooling" help for digital sculptures

Hi, I'm working on my digital sculpture and was wondering if anyone can offer any advice or tips regarding "tooling" for my digital model. I think "tooling" is the word for it. I'm new at this manufacturing thing so please excuse me if I don't have the lingo correct. My sculpture will be made into a 1/6 scale resin sculpture.

Looking at resin model kits, I kind of have an understanding of how this tooling works. Basically just making male and female parts into the model where it needs to be broken up?

Any tips on tooling for digital sculptures would be greatly appreciated.

My sculpture is based on one of my paintings.

Thanks,
-Wei

Hi Wei,You can actually have a company like Ownage.com do it for you and they will include it with printing. However if you want your model to be tweaked in wax after it has printed and some parts like the face, or hands or detail gets lost, then you can hire a sculptor to do it, to be honest the work may not be much, but if the client decides to tweak the model, or you wish to sharpen some parts lost by the sanding, and it does happen. You can then benefit from a traditional sculptor to help you fix the affected areas. that can be easy to fix so it may cost anything from $200 upwards of $1000 in case there's silicone molds to be made to cast your 1/6th piece in wax etc. the best solution is to pay the printer a bit more and print in High definition, it is more costly but the likelihood of you needing a sculptor is drastically lowered.
If you need help doing the CG engineering I can help you for free no problem.
