I agree.

The DC had some nice titles but overall I would have to say the Saturn had a better library.

Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?

As for Daytona, I do love the DC version, but my favorite home version is the Saturn original. Sure, the graphics were lacking, but the gameplay was the tightest to me.
I played a ton of Daytona USA in the arcade and the Saturn version's poor graphics were pretty shocking. I'm not the type that will say a game is unplayable because of the graphics or framerate either. But in those days SEGA was advertising things like bring the arcade experience home. Which this Daytona or the second Saturn version were not even close. The handling was pretty good though.

They really need to bring a Daytona 1 & 2 collection out with maybe a Daytona 3. But of course there is the whole licensing thing and the current SEGA isn't the same anymore...

No doubt about it, 20-25 frames per second and some of the worst draw-in ever seen on the system.....pretty disappointing after playing buttloads of the arcade version, haha.

Sega today is a shell of its former glorious self. We can still dream about a Daytona compilation, though, can't we? It seems more likely than a Shenmue 3.

Was that what it was called back then "draw in"??

I remember they used another term for it...

But yea, SEGA didn't anticipate the use of polygons in that era. They were banking on side scrolling platformers.

All in all SEGA just was never able to anticipate how the next generation would develop. The PS2 was able to dominate due to the fact that included a DVD player.

i would love to see a Daytona compilation as well.

Nah, they had a different term in the 32-bit days (as you know)....."pop-up", but I wasn't sure if that would be clear to the current gen folks, haha.

Pop-up and lens flares....staples of the 32-bit generation

lens flare is a good one....

I remember that was the PS' big thing .....

I never understood it, a ring of freakin light????

I've always been a big SEGA guy, since the Master System & monitored what was going on with the other consoles.

They just don't seem to have the right people running things. Look @ Nintendo, they don't disregard their history. Every now & then they'll update an old classic & everyone will go crazy. Look @ Kid Icarus...
