How many video game movies or shows have been good?

As good as this video was your right it's not real. I did however state that in the OP. I was saying that his video got me hyped up about the series.

I enjoy the Tomb Raider movies and am excited about the next one, but I wouldn't hold any game related movies or shows up as grand film making.

Edit: I looked it up and Sonic the Hedgehog, Angry Birds 2, and Detective Pickachu ar ethe only video game movies to manage "fresh" or 60%+ reception.

I didn't realize just how universally panned some were. I actually enjoyed "Ratchet and Clank", but appears I was pretty alone in that.

They're all awful.

Mortal Kombat and the first Resident Evil (and maybe the latest Tomb Raider?) come closest to being "ok", but their plots are ridiculous so it's hard to craft something respectable out of them.

I enjoy Doom as a guilty pleasure.

The only films of much value are likely going to come from the very last category: "Films with plots centered on video games".

Some of those are worthwhile. The only one I like a lot would be Grandma's Boy. YMMV...

The first couple of Resident Evil movies are enjoyable for me. Not groundbreaking or anything. I would say The Witcher but I think those were books first. The show mainly reflects the literature if I’m not mistaken.

Pedro Pascal has been signed for Joel. Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

Not excited about either of those choices. That little girl was annoying in GOT and I like Pedro but he's not right for Joel.

Wait and see for me, at worst this will be unnecessary and forgotten, at best a great addition to a wonderful story.
