I think you either let cancer change you or you change it.
Vicki and I have banned all use of the word in a negative sense, we joke a little about it, like when I told her I was gonna make my own cancer support ribbon, and cos it's bowel cancer it should be brown with a piece of sweetcorn in it. 
Plus, I tell everyone the truth about the whole ordeal, if they can't handle the details, they shouldn't ask...I can't stand half hearted interest...
