The G1 fans are not an easy bunch to please. The Sunbow cartoon is known for its animation inconsistencies from episode to episode. So, do feel confident in making artistic interpretations of the source as needed.

Everybody wants cartoon accurate BUT there's some aspects of the cartoon that don't automatically translate into statues that PCS will need to work out.
The show (and to an even greater extent Dreamwave and IDW's comics) used a shading and light glare technique to make the robots look like metal that is a big part of the aesthetic.
It isn't something a simple metallic flake paint can replicate.
And to be sure flat simple colors that worked so well in the Filmation line won't work the same for Transformers.

That is correct. Would the yellow on the Dinobots be a sunflower yellow, or a metallic gold? For a 1/4 line, I suggest interpreting the intent of the cartoon than taking it literal.
