Just in comparison, I just got done with Uncharted. While it looked great and was technically well done...I could not help but feel I was just running down a pretty path. Nothing challenging other than too many enemies VS not enough ammo.

In DS, they dont even tell you the path of the game. There are several branches/deadends to where you can beat the game and still miss like 40%.
Every enemy is like a boss, small guys on the way to the boss are just minibosses. Anything can kill you easily. Key is just waiting and pattern recognition.

Also, unlike other games that can have very basic or generic hitboxes...if I am infront at X time, I get hit...this game does not. Timing and weapon movement and enemy/yourself placement all add up to a hit or a miss. DS community even have a thing for it, called HitBox Porn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-gRtIbllw0 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cF-NgCrcQs So like the first boss for example...I assume the tutorial boss you are referring to...the guy hunched over that you pull the sword out. You can side step him easier to your right rather than your left, as he swing from his right. When he transforms, he usually does a big opening swipe...forget which arm, but just strafe to the opposite side of said arm. Again just back to timing and recognizing the patterns.

And yea, supposedly Magic suck for like the first half of the game.
I feel the exact way, Uncharted, while visually beautiful, but pretty much no challenge. I wouldn't call myself a huge gamer, but I have certain games that I love. And Souls is one of them. It's like when I was a kid, some people loved Super Mario, some loved Ghosts&Goblins, which even today, is still a difficult game haha. All I can say is give Souls 3 another chance, figure out the patterns of every enemy, hack and slash is a sure way to die in these games.

I totally agree with you regarding Uncharted 4, beautiful game to look at but not overly challenging but I still enjoyed it. Never ran out of ammo as I usually "Rambo it" when I could.

DS, maybe I am not giving it a chance and will probably try again later, but with the Sorcerer it is very unforgiving. I can easily defeat the first part of the boss, as you said going to right, or what I usually do, as he leaps towards me I run forward and he jumps over me, but I have a bastard of a time with the second part. At this point, my health vials are usually gone and the character is moving slower, not sure if it is part endurance or slow down of the game, but suffice to say, I have yet to beat the boss. Came close once with a sliver of energy left for him but he got me first. That was annoying

Yeah, I'm sure I will get back into it. Will take a break first.

Finally beat the 1st boss.

I removed the Sorcerer's robe and hood and that enable him to move around quicker.

Thanks to everyone for the tips and advices.

After a month and a half playing this game I can say I am truly enjoying it. Once you level up to certain level fighting as a sorcerer is relatively easy. Some boss fights are still tough but it is good that you can ask for help from the online community.

Yeah, that is another part they dont really tell you about, Weight Ratio %. Over 70% and you do what is called a "fat roll". As you have probably seen, makes you very slow to recover and you dont not travel as far. Below 30%, yes you might have to be nearly naked unless capacity have been leveled, and you dodge even farther and faster. So basically anything at 69.9% and under and you are good to use whatever you like. 30.1 - 69.9 would be the basic/average/common/normal range.

Cool that you stuck with it long enough to like it.

I barely gave it's predecessors any time combined. DS3 was brutal for my in the beginning, but once I "figured it out"...it became that much more fun to keep going.

Now I am on the 4th playthrough. Might try Bloodborne and DS2 eventually...since they sitting on my shelf.

And to make us feel worse...that speedrunner did DS3, all the bosses in the game, under 1 hour.

Defiantly give Bloodborne another shot, I would say it's more difficult than DS3, especially the DLC bosses. I'll be honest DS2 was my least favorite, still a great game though.

4th time? Wow, still first time and not finished. I am in Catatombs area, killed big worm, killed 2 fire demons and stuck. I heard there is another boss but can't seem to find him. Plus the jerk in the "lake" area keeps on bombing me. Not sure how to get to him although I know I can.

How the heck you finish this game in 1 hr?

If Bloodborne is as good as DS3 I might try it again. I only gave it about 2 hrs of play and traded it in.

Lots of bosses and areas are optional. Also any enemy/boss can be killed by any level character with any weapon. Once you master boss patterns and areas required to progress, leveling up/exploring are a moot point. You simply streamline a path and level a stat that will maximize damage making encounters shorter and shorter.

So you guys enjoy the game?
Being a huge Dark Souls and Demon's souls fan, I waited for this game for soooo long...to finally get disapointed.
It looks and feels too much like bloodborne to me. I wanted a new Dark Souls game, not a new Bloodborne game.
The way the blood spashes, the aiming ''thing'', the way the character and the ennemies move and attack, the gameplay and the lanscapes, it feels like Bloodborne.
And as a die-hard fan, I found that it misses a bit of innovation.
I spent about 300 hours on the previous games and I still enjoy them, but Dark souls 3...I just can't feel it.
Am I abnormal?

It's definitely not just you, although I wouldn't say it plays like Bloodborne. With shields, spells, etc. it's definitely a Souls game. My main issues with it came in two forms. Oh yeah disclaimer, I've been playing since Demon's Souls, have done anywhere from 10-30 playthroughs of each game, etc. Just mentioning it so you have a frame of reference as to my view on 3.

Anyway, two things that tainted part 3 for me.

1. WAY too much referncing and outright copying things from past games. A nod here or there is awesome, but when entire areas and NPCs are placed right into the game I felt they took the fan service too far. By the time I hit Anor Londo I was really starting to get tired of it.

2. Casters are pretty much worthless early/mid game. I realize this was to balance how broken they were from past games, especially when you could 2 to 3 shot bosses only an hour or two into a build. However, the emphasis on melee is too strong IMO. With almost any class it's better to start as a melee build and then branch out into your casting late game when better options become available and your have more estus to spare.

I don't hate the game, I think it's better than 2, but nowhere near as great as 1 or Demon's Souls. It's better than 90% of what's out there right now, but for a Souls game, it fell a bit short of the standard.

10-30 playthroughs, that's crazy! I spent too much time in Skyrim to play Dark Souls as much as you did...
