That was one of the promo pics they included when they opened preorders. Not a new pic made afterwards. People did complain about the rod when images were first shown, from the most recent event that showcased some PIJI's upcoming statues.

It's an optional attachment on top of the rod.

ah, I see.
So no worries about the exposed metal rod then, it can be covered by the bubbles.
