ive been trying to figure that out as well. I haven't consistently been reading comics over the years to know when he came back but I know wolverine cut his head off with that special sword that doesn't allow his healing factor to work. he was dead. but now hes been back in comics for a couple years? I looked it up on Wikipedia and couldn't find anything

He just started showing up again in Jason Aaron's Wolverine comic, but eventually Jeph Loeb did a sequel to the story where he killed Sabretooth and explained how he came back. Basically, Wolverine killed a clone, not the real one.

Which doesn't really make sense since Sabretooth's soul was in Hell when Wolverine was trapped their earlier in Aaron's run, but I don't think they put that much thought into the whole thing.
