Fantastic Four: Grimm Noir
Wow, what a great read. This is a one-shot about Bashful Benjy, by Ron Garney & Gerry Duggan, that hits all the right notes about our hero. Set in current continuity, it focuses on Ben’s fears, history and heart while building to a crisis resolution with an innocent woman’s life at stake and a slobber knocker of a fight with a Big Bad.
If Marvel ever puts out a trade of “The Thing’s Greatest Hits,” or something like that, this one definitely should be included.

Glad you loved this one, too, Jerry. I always considered us comic book kindred spirits, so this is good validation for me.

Thanks. Right back at cha. Just ordered the 4th & final of the Essentials, Marvel Two-In-One. I love Benn Grimm as a character. Always has been one of my faves.

Will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
Garney did the art of that Fantastic Four # 605, about Grimm too, such an emotional issue that one....damn suddenly something is wrong with my eyes.

I bought this but have yet to read it. Sounds like I need to move it to the top of the pile.

i loved Marvel Two In One. I have the 1st Masterworks of it and the Gruenwald/Macchio run (#42-43, 53-74) which to me is essential Marvel reading and laid the groundwork for so many stories that came after that.

I now own all 4, fat volumes of the 2-in-one Essentials & they're just amazing. As good, if not a little better than the Marvel-Team-Ups being published at the same time. I do miss the color in these Essentials, I dobt if I'll go Masterwors on them, but would happily buy an 2-in-omne Omni.
