Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Sculpt is great, but I'm still not a fan of the newer version of the book where his eyes are bleeding. That book lost a lot of it's artistic character when Bolland recoloured it.

Looks awesome!

Does the backdrop come with the statue?

I wondered why there was blood coming from his eyes and mouth, I never noticed that before but that explains it

I also don't like it

I really want to like this more but all I see are gummy worms in that hair. Maybe in the smaller scale, in person though, it looks fine. Hopefully he'll be at SDCC and I can judge in person.

I guess Bolland thought the old colouring was not good or something. I forget exactly why, but he wasn't happy. So he personally recoloured it for one of the anniversary releases. Everything is very drab in comparison and uses flat lighting, especially the amusement park / funhouse. You just see characters in the style guide colours with simple gradient shading rather than bathed in garish purples and pinks. A lot of atmosphere is lost, I feel, and at times it's almost as if the colouring is unfinished.
