Well I can help now... at least a little. Watched the first 3 episodes of The Strain over the past couple days and despite the first episode starting off pretty cheesy (the whole airplane intro didn't come off too well) it actually got real good if you can make it past the first 45 min. Glad I stuck with it because I see a lot of potential and will follow through with the first season. Cool concept and high production value.

I've just watched the 3rd episode of The Strain

Looks to be a slow burn with nothing major happening but i've read the books so have a pretty decent idea of whats to come

Mixed reviews on The Strain, guess I'm going to have to watch it and decide for myself.

Finally watched season 4 of Walking Dead. I really enjoyed it. I can see people being underwhelmed when you're watching it week to week, but the slow pace and occasional side story is all welcome when you've got the next episode queued up. Finale was kinda weak, but the season was great IMO. I'll stick to watching the whole season I think. Makes for good tv.

The Strain - 7.5/10

Solid horror series. Definitely a slow burn but the concept is solid and while the subject matter is a bit familiar vampires/impeding apocalyptic setting it has enough unique aspects to keep you interested. Definitely has a Guillermo del Toro feel to it with the WWII Nazi angle, vampire resistance and powerful corporate backing of the whole situation being the most interesting aspects. Worth a look.

The West Wing: Season 1 ~ 5/5

I shouldn't have waited this long to watch this brilliant show. I can't name one bad episode in the season. Great writing, great characters...onwards to season 2

I was 14 when it originally aired and had no interest in a political drama back then (obviously). Really happy I took the time to give it a chance though. If it continues on this pace it'll easily become one of my top shows ever.

I heard it weakens in season 5 as the series creator and (main) director left, but I'll see what I think when I reach that point.
