I really did not expect Nikon to charge that much. I'm foreseeing a drop in prices in the near future.
I bought the Canon 5D mark II

so we'll see if it measures up to the expectations. The almost complete lack of manual settings in video mode is bugging me(I guess I'll have to be uber-creative) but I didn't buy it for that and hopefully it will be resolved with a future firmware update if possible.

congrats on the 5D mark II! i can't wait to see the pictures you take from it!

i'll eventually upgrade to that down the road since i recently invested in a new tripod/ballhead setup that set me back.

I had a few moments with a sample 5D last month but my friend in the US managed to snag me the last one in a local store and he is bringing it to me in 10 days. Many photos then. He sent me a pic, isn't it beautful

this is my first time watching this. yup, looks like there are quite a few incarnations. this one cracked me up though. it struck at the heart of this wannabe photographer.

Just saw the pre-order for the D3X down in Vegas, a little too soon for my liking but had to know it was coming.

The 5D Mark II looks to be an incredible camera as well. Way too many choices nowadays.
