Chewie is awesome too. I actually like the GG version, but not as much as the Attakus.

Get the Boba already!

It honestly comes down to personal opinion my friend. SS and GG both put out excellent pieces. It just depends on what you like in terms of pose, scale, and whatnot. Some companies have characters available that others may not.

The jawa is a really nice Attakus piece. And I have a feeling the Tusken will be too (when I get my hands on it later this week). Great work in terms as far as sculpt detail and paint application.

Yeah that Tusken really looks awesome, the details and everything.

Answers to your questions would probably require weeks of writing. In short, I would argue that Attakus and Gentle Giant target different collector groups.

Main Points:

Scale: 1/5 vs. 1/6 - Attakus is much bigger
Price: Attakus is high, high end and therefore several times the price of the GG statues
Edition size: You will find new GG statues in every better Local Comic Store and a substantial offering on EBay. Attakus is hard to find unless (a) the statue is unpopular or (b) has just come out (Tuscan/Ewock).
Strong Points: Attakus: Details in the sculpting and details in the paint application; GG: general sculpt and use of innovative technologies (e.g.: Chewie's long hair)
Weak Points: Attakus: Poor face sculpts so far, esp. Luke and Leia. There is hope Jedi Luke will be the breakthrough. GG: Scale: Chewie and C3PO are not to scale with Vader; Vader is too big. As a consequence, the combination of Chewie/C3PO and Vader looks off.
Display: Attakus makes a great Jabba palace combination; all you need is a lot of space and a couple of thousand Dollars. No such effort with GG. You need to display the figures separately, e.g.: Darth Maul's clothing blows into the opposite direction of Darth Vader's.

The above is of course my personal point of view and I am collecting both - but only the ones I really like ...
